Privacy policy

The forms on this site ask for your email address and one question about your business, such as how many locations you run or what category your product is in. We store exactly what you typed.

Alongside that we record which page the form was on, the date and time, your IP address, and your browser’s user agent string.

Your IP address is stored for one reason: it is how we stop the form being flooded. We limit submissions per address per hour, and there is no third party doing that for us, so the address has to sit in our own database for the check to work.

We email it to ourselves so we know you got in touch, and we keep it so we can reply and remember the conversation. That is the whole use.

We do not sell your details, rent them, trade them, or add you to a marketing list you did not ask for. If you enquire and we never do business together, the only thing that happens is that a person reads your email and replies.

A handful of suppliers, each doing one job: one hosts this site and keeps standard server logs, one stores form submissions in a database, and one sends us the notification email. On our advertising landing pages only, we use Google to measure whether an advert led to an enquiry.

They process data on our instructions and nothing else. Nobody else receives it, other than where we are legally required to hand it over. If you want to know which companies these are, ask and we will tell you.

Across the site we count page views with a tool that sets no cookies and does not build a profile of you.

On our advertising landing pages, the ones with addresses beginning /lp/, we also load Google’s advertising and analytics tags. These do set cookies, and they are how we tell whether money spent on an advert produced an enquiry. Those tags are not present anywhere else on the site.

You can block them with any standard browser setting or content blocker and every page will work exactly as it does now, including the forms.

Enquiries stay in our database while there is a reasonable chance we will speak again. If you tell us you are not interested, or you ask us to delete your details, we remove the record.

We have no automatic deletion schedule yet. Saying we did would not be true, and we would rather you knew that than read a number we do not enforce.

Email hello@counterpartfoods.com and ask us for a copy of what we hold on you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. You do not need to give a reason and you do not need to use any particular wording.

We will do it and confirm when it is done. Depending on where you live you may have these rights by law, including under the California Consumer Privacy Act and the UK and EU GDPR. We would honour the request either way.

This is a business-to-business service and nothing here is aimed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.

If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we will change this page and move the date at the top. We will not quietly broaden it.
